Mark S Brinn

about mark s. brinn: I am a recent graduate of Art Center College of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. I was honored to be selected as valedictorian for my class. During my time at Art Center, I focused on print design, spent a lot of time in the printmaking studio, and learned that I have a great passion for all things paper. I took a four month internship at AdamsMorioka and had the pleasure of working closely with Sean Adams and Monica Schlaug. There, I created logos, illustrations and two custom typefaces for The Sundance Resort and Disneyland.

Prior to my education at Art Center, I lived in Bellingham Washington, making posters for the Nightlight Lounge and going to as many concerts there as I could. I love music, and I try to let it influence my design whenever possible. I believe that everything in life should influence design, and I think that Jim Jarmuusch put it best when he said:

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."

...And you can quote me on that.
